The questions people ask us
Including the ones whose answers don’t flatter us. A FAQ that only says nice things is no use to anyone, least of all to someone still making up their mind.
What is MemoryPilot, in one sentence?
A second brain. You hand it whatever you no longer want to keep in your head, a code, a date, what someone likes, a trip idea, and it gives it back when you ask. You type or dictate the way you talk, and it files everything on its own.
MemoryPilot or Memory Pilot: how do you spell it?
As one word: MemoryPilot. “Memory Pilot” as two words and “memorypilot” in lowercase refer to the same app and the same website, memorypilot.fr. If you typed “memory pilot” into a search engine, an app store or an AI, you found us.
Does it work offline?
Search does. Your memory lives on your phone and is searched in a few milliseconds, on a plane or in a basement. What needs the network is understanding a new sentence and answering it.
Is my data encrypted?
The backup that goes up to our servers is encrypted with a key derived for your account alone: a copy of the database reveals neither your text, nor your titles, nor the names you mentioned. End-to-end encryption, where only your phone holds the key, is in the works and will be added on top.
What happens if I switch phones?
Your memory comes with you. You sign back in and it comes back down, photos included. That is why the backup exists: a memory that lives in only one place is one slip away from disappearing, and the slip can be as ordinary as a phone dropped in water.
How much does it cost?
Getting started is free and does not require a credit card. The monthly plan is €14.99 and the yearly plan is €49.99, which comes to €4.17 a month: nine months free. You can cancel either one whenever you like.
Can I dictate instead of typing?
Yes, and the text appears while you speak, not afterwards. Your phone’s own speech engine does the work, so nothing is sent to us to be transcribed. You read back what was understood before sending: a dictation engine mostly gets wrong the things that matter, a first name, a number, the name of a service.
Can I take a photo of a prescription, a label, a receipt?
Yes. The text is read right on your phone, in three tenths of a second, without the image going anywhere. Then you choose what gets kept, and only after that do you decide whether the photo itself is saved. By default, it is not.
What is the vault?
The family for things that should never be on display: a code, a password, a number. They stay hidden in lists and are only revealed when you ask. A vault title never contains its value: you will read “Gate code”, never the code itself.
How do I cancel?
From your account settings, in two taps, without writing to anyone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and your memory stays readable and exportable.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and Android. The two badges on this site take you straight to the MemoryPilot listing, on the App Store and on Google Play.
Can I erase everything you have on me?
Yes, in a single step from the app: deleting your account erases the backed-up memory, the images, the profile and your address at our email provider. You can also write to contact@memorypilot.fr: the result is the same, and it is your right to erasure.
Are my memories used to train an AI?
No. What goes to a model is your question and the few excerpts needed to answer it, under processing agreements that forbid training. Your whole memory never leaves your phone: a question goes out with six excerpts, whether you have a hundred memories or ten thousand.
